Welcome to The Georgia Aquarium

We recently visited the Georgia Aquarium. Visiting Atlanta, we had to visit the world's largest aquarium. We were not disappointed. I took numerous pictures which can be seen on our gallery page.

As far as the facts are concerned, there are over 500 species of marine animals represented at the aquarium. There are more than one hundred thousand different types of marine animals at the aquarium.

I have visited many aquariums, nothing comes close to the Atlanta Aquarium. The aquarium just opened in November of 2005. Ticket prices are a little steep. Adults tickets are $22.75, children $17, seniors $17.50. They also have annual passes for each group, but no family passes are available.

The Galleries are the most fun places to visit in the aquarium. They have five separate galleries to view the different fish.

The best area for me were the Touch Tanks. I loved these at the Myrtle Beach Aquarium, but these were so much larger and offerred many more species of fish to touch. My kids loved this! Each gallerie had it's own tank.

My kids also liked the play area they have set up. Here the kids are in a themed area that was made specifically for the kids.

Of course they did have a restaurant area. The food was a little too pricey for me. We took the family out to the van and ate sandwiches we had prepared in the morning. They kept fresh in a cooler and were better than what appeared to be more or less fast food in the aquarium.

The Georgia Aquarium is across the street from Centennial Park where the Olympics were held. CNN Center is also next to this location, and near the GWCC (Georgia World Congress Center). The exact address is 225 Baker St, Atlanta, Georgia, telephone: (404)581-4000.

Parking for the Aquarium is costly at $10.00 per car in the parking garage next to the aquarium.
